Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. The font runs small in this edition. Still worth having on the shelf.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Recommended with reservations.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Glad I finally picked this up.
Grabbed it for a long flight. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little.
Was skeptical at first. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Five stars from me.
This has been on my wishlist for months. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. The font runs small in this edition. Still worth having on the shelf.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you.
