Horror desk

This erotic tale of immortal love delivers on its promise of gothic atmosphere and psychological complexity. Rice excels at detailing the passionate connection between Lestat and Rowan amidst the schism within the vampire community. However, readers seeking fast-paced action without emotional depth may find it less engaging, as the narrative prioritizes character study over thriller mechanics. The confrontation with the Mayfair family adds tension but does not replace the need for patience with thematic exploration. While the contemporary relevance is noted, the story remains firmly rooted in traditional gothic tropes. It is a worthy addition for dedicated fans of the Vampire Chronicles who value the examination of immortality and moral consequences over plot-driven adrenaline.

Exactly as described

Needed a good scare and got one. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. Glad I finally picked this up.

First order from this shop. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Still worth having on the shelf.
