First order from this shop. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. The font runs small in this edition. Good, with the caveats above.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Recommended with reservations.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Already eyeing my next order.
This has been on my wishlist for months. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. If you like this kind of cooking, don't hesitate.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Happy enough with the purchase.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. Highly recommend.
❓ Frequently asked questions
📖 Who should read this
Seekers of atmospheric dread and supernatural suspense will find much to love here, particularly if you enjoy character-driven narratives set against stark, isolating landscapes. However, readers craving rapid-fire action or traditional jump scares may find the pacing too deliberate and the tone more contemplative than thrilling.
