Took a chance on it after reading the description here. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn.
A friend from my book club recommended it. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it.
Finally got around to ordering this. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Well worth it.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Great value for what you get.
Needed a good scare and got one. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Definitely recommend.
Finally got around to ordering this. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Five stars from me.
