Grabbed it for a long flight. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Great value for what you get.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. A keeper.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Still worth having on the shelf.
