Lucky Day
✍️ Chuck TingleA professor fights a statistical apocalypse caused by real luck.
Vera’s journey begins in despair after the Low-Probability Event kills eight million people in improbable ways. She views the world as chaotic and meaningless until Agent Layne introduces her to a casino operating on impossible odds. Their investigation reveals that these anomalies are not isolated incidents but part of a larger threat. The plot centers on proving the link between the casino’s success and the earlier deaths. Tingle uses Vera’s background in probability to frame the conflict, making mathematical impossibility the central antagonist. The story explores how belief in order collapses when faced with undeniable chance. It combines elements of mystery and supernatural fiction, focusing on the consequences of a world where luck dictates survival.

First order from this shop. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Solid, if not essential.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. The font runs small in this edition. Recommended with reservations.
