📝 Description: Bury Your Gays

Bury Your Gays is a heart-pounding novel about an actor fighting monsters to protect his future in Hollywood. The narrative follows Misha, an actor who has spent years striving for recognition in Hollywood. His career reaches a pivotal point when he receives an Oscar nomination. Studio executives propose killing off the gay characters in his streaming series finale to satisfy algorithmic demands. Misha rejects this directive, realizing he has placed himself in immediate danger. Monsters from his previous horror film roles begin stalking him and his friends in the hills above Los Angeles. He must confront these supernatural threats while protecting his future. The story draws on traditions of Hollywood satire and supernatural horror. It examines the pressure to conform to industry algorithms at the cost of authentic representation. Misha’s struggle highlights the personal risks faced by artists who resist corporate mandates. The narrative blends professional ambition with visceral terror as fictional creatures invade reality. This work suits readers interested in meta-commentary on entertainment industry practices and genre-blending fiction. It may not appeal to those seeking straightforward romantic narratives or pure horror without satirical elements. Tingle’s previous work, Camp Damascus, establishes his voice in speculative fiction. Bury Your Gays continues this exploration of identity within hostile systems. The plot moves from professional triumph to physical peril, linking career survival with literal survival. Readers will find a sharp critique of modern media consumption habits wrapped in a thriller framework.

Very good

Wanted something for October and it delivered. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Solid, if not essential.

❓ Frequently asked questions

No. While it features gay protagonists, the primary focus is supernatural horror and industry satire. The tone is dark, tense, and critical of Hollywood practices rather than lighthearted.
No prior knowledge of film awards is necessary. The plot uses the nomination as a catalyst for conflict, but the story stands firmly on its own merits regarding horror and character survival.
