Kitty Norville works as a late-night radio personality in Denver, balancing her secret life as a werewolf with her public career. Her accidental creation of a support program for the supernatural community brings her fame but also significant peril. As callers share their stories, Kitty must manage her own relationships and safety. The presence of a sexy werewolf hunter among her admirers adds romantic complexity to her dangerous situation. Meanwhile, homicidal undead creatures pursue her, raising the stakes of her public visibility. Vaughn uses this setup to examine how hidden communities function in modern society. The story moves between Kitty’s professional achievements and her personal survival instincts, creating a steady pace of intrigue.
Set in Denver, Colorado, this 2009 release by Tantor Audio reflects the growing popularity of urban fantasy. It draws on werewolf and vampire folklore traditions, placing them within a contemporary American media landscape. The work engages with themes of minority rights and social integration through its supernatural metaphor.

Vaughn constructs a complex web of tension by juxtaposing professional success with personal danger for her protagonist. The narrative effectively uses the radio host format to explore the social dynamics of the supernatural community, balancing humor with suspense. While it may not suit fans of traditional gothic or cosmic horror due to its urban setting, it excels in examining hidden communities in modern society. The steady pace and focus on Kitty’s dual existence make it an engaging choice for those seeking contemporary fantasy that prioritizes character development over epic world-building.
