It avoids illustrations or footnotes, focusing strictly on the three named novels. While it appeals to fans of classic horror who prefer traditional formats, it may not satisfy those looking for contemporary interpretations or abridged summaries. The lack of thematic grouping might confuse readers expecting a cohesive narrative arc, but it effectively showcases the distinct voices of the late nineteenth century. It is a useful archive for genre enthusiasts rather than a scholarly introduction.

Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
