📝 Description: Dead America: Heartland
All is not well in the Heartland of America. As the first week of the zombie apocalypse staggers to a close, tensions are reaching a boiling point. Hundreds of thousands of heavily armed troops have taken up residence in the small rural towns of Kansas, much to the chagrin of the local populace. Sensing that a larger fight is on the horizon, a small team of soldiers prepare for a daunting journey. Dead America: The First Week focuses on the national response to the Texas zombie outbreak. There will be several mini-series within The First Week focused on several regions of the nation and how they are dealing with the crisis.

The book effectively shifts the zombie apocalypse focus from survivor horror to military protocol and civil unrest. By centering on the friction between heavily armed troops and rural populations, it explores the immediate chaos of national response systems failing under pressure. The episodic nature allows for a broad examination of different regional reactions, providing variety in setting and conflict. While it may lack deep character development in favor of plot momentum, its strength lies in its grounded, tactical approach to the genre. It suits readers who appreciate the intersection of military strategy and supernatural disaster.
