A friend from my book club recommended it. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Happy enough with the purchase.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Solid, if not essential.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. It assumes some familiarity with the genre's tropes. Good, with the caveats above.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. Five stars from me.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it.
