Wanted something for October and it delivered. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Recommended with reservations.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Already eyeing my next order.
