📝 Description: The Bill Hodges Trilogy Boxed Set: Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch

This boxed set contains three volumes previously published individually as Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch. This collection spans 1344 pages of suspenseful fiction that explores the lingering effects of violence and obsession. The narrative follows ex-cop Bill Hodges as he confronts two distinct threats. In the first story, he tracks Brady Hartsfield, a man who delights in the mechanical destruction caused by a stolen Mercedes. The second tale shifts focus to Morris Bellamy, a deranged fan who kills author John Rothstein to steal unpublished manuscripts and cash hidden in a safe. Hodges returns to stop Bellamy’s vengeance when teenager Pete Saubers discovers the stolen treasure. The set draws on thriller and suspense traditions, focusing on criminal psychology and police procedure. It examines how past actions echo through decades, particularly in End of Watch, where Hartsfield remains in a vegetative state while scheming behind his vacant stare. The books utilize a linear structure across three distinct cases, allowing readers to see the evolution of Hodges alongside his associates Holly Gibney and Jerome Robinson. This boxed set suits fans of psychological thrillers and those who enjoy long-form character studies involving law enforcement. It may not appeal to readers seeking lighthearted plots or short, quick reads. The physical format presents these works as a single substantial volume for dedicated genre enthusiasts.

Horror desk

This collection delivers a substantial 1344-page exploration of obsession and violence, appealing strongly to enthusiasts of psychological thrillers. King effectively uses a linear structure across three cases to highlight criminal intent and police procedure. However, the sheer length and serious tone may alienate readers seeking lighthearted plots or short, quick reads. The focus on the lingering effects of violence requires patience and an interest in detailed character studies rather than fast-paced action alone. It is a rigorous commitment for those who do not typically enjoy long-form law enforcement narratives or dark, unresolved psychological tensions.

Kept me up

Wanted something for October and it delivered. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Would buy from this store again.

A friend from my book club recommended it. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Definitely recommend.

Dread done right

Took a chance on it after reading the description here. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. The binding held up to being carried around for a week.

Worth the read

Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Happy enough with the purchase.
