📖 Why choose it
Why this book is worth reading
Readers who enjoy fast-paced action and mysteries involving unexplained phenomena will find this book highly engaging. The narrative centers on Quinn Quicksilver, whose ordinary life is shattered by an inexplicable magnetic pull that drives him into the desolate Sonoran Desert. This force shields him from government agents while binding him to Bridget Rainking and Sparky. The story relies on the tradition of the chase thriller, focusing on survival and the mystery of magnetism rather than historical exposition. Koontz grounds the bizarre in immediate physical danger, creating a relentless plot that emphasizes flight from formidable pursuers. It offers an accessible entry point for those seeking suspense without slow-burn character studies or purely realistic crime fiction.
⭐ Reader reviews
Reader rating
This has been on my wishlist for months. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. A keeper.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Good, with the caveats above.
