First order from this shop. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Recommended with reservations.
Grabbed it for a long flight. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. Five stars from me.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Recommended with reservations.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. The binding held up to being carried around for a week.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Still worth having on the shelf.
Grabbed it for a long flight. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
This has been on my wishlist for months. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with.
