Finders Keepers
✍️ Stephen KingA thriller about a killer obsessed with a retired author's unpublished work.
Morris Bellamy kills John Rothstein because he feels betrayed by the author's silence and the commercialization of his favorite character. Morris steals cash but finds greater value in notebooks holding a new Jimmy Gold story. This discovery shifts the focus from simple theft to a deeper exploration of literary obsession. The plot examines how a reader’s devotion can turn into violent entitlement when expectations are not met. King uses this premise to question the rights of authors versus the desires of their audience.
Published by Scribner Book Company in 2017, this novel reflects contemporary anxieties about celebrity culture and fan expectations. It engages with the long-standing tradition of American horror fiction where personal demons manifest as physical threats.

Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
First order from this shop. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Solid, if not essential.
A friend from my book club recommended it. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Glad I finally picked this up.
