Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it.
Needed a good scare and got one. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. It assumes some familiarity with the genre's tropes. Solid, if not essential.
