I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Great value for what you get.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
Was skeptical at first. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. It assumes some familiarity with the genre's tropes. Good, with the caveats above.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. Already eyeing my next order.
Arrived quickly and well packaged. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Happy enough with the purchase.
