As Those Above Fall

Catlyn Ladd presents a dark narrative where Zorah, a woman with innate witchcraft abilities, faces the death of her lover Alex. Her immense power cannot reverse this loss, leaving her in deep grief. This despair leads her to Zeke, an immortal vampire whose seductive nature offers a different kind of allure. Zorah discovers that his blood holds the secret to crossing the boundary between life and death. Her initial wish for death shifts into a hunger for control and power. The story follows her dangerous quest to resurrect Alex, a path that endangers her mind, Zeke’s existence, and global stability. Ladd writes fiction that blends supernatural elements with intense emotional turmoil. This work suits readers who enjoy gothic romance and horror tales involving vampires and witches. It may not appeal to those seeking lighthearted fantasy or non-fiction historical accounts. The narrative focuses on the psychological cost of grief and the corrupting influence of power. Zorah’s transformation from a grieving partner to a power-hungry seeker drives the plot forward. The relationship between Zorah and Zeke is central, defined by mutual temptation and shared danger. The story does not offer easy resolutions or moral clarity. It examines how love can twist into obsession when faced with mortality. The setting remains vague but atmospheric, emphasizing the internal states of the characters over external geography. Ladd’s background in publishing informs the tight pacing and character-driven structure. This book is for fans of dark fantasy who appreciate complex moral dilemmas. It avoids traditional hero journeys in favor of personal descent.
