However, its placement in the horror-fiction shelf alongside gothic and vampire traditions signals a clear tonal direction. This book does not suit readers seeking intricate political intrigue or graphic true-crime details; it is strictly a character study of supernatural longing. It may also disappoint those who dislike dual timelines, as the shifting perspective can disrupt narrative momentum. Ultimately, it serves fans of atmospheric, romance-focused horror who value emotional resonance over high-stakes action.
