Grabbed it for a long flight. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. Already eyeing my next order.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Great value for what you get.
Arrived quickly and well packaged. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with.
Needed a good scare and got one. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Good, with the caveats above.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Happy enough with the purchase.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. If you like this kind of cooking, don't hesitate.
