Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Definitely recommend.
Finally got around to ordering this. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Good, with the caveats above.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Good, with the caveats above.
