Was skeptical at first. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. Belongs in any working kitchen.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Well worth it.

First order from this shop. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Would buy from this store again.
Needed a good scare and got one. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Solid, if not essential.
This has been on my wishlist for months. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. The font runs small in this edition. Good, with the caveats above.
