Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Recommended with reservations.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. The font runs small in this edition. Good, with the caveats above.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Already eyeing my next order.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
Finally got around to ordering this. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. Happy enough with the purchase.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Still worth having on the shelf.
