Needed a good scare and got one. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. Great value for what you get.
Was skeptical at first. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Glad I finally picked this up.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Five stars from me.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. The cover feels thinner than expected. Solid, if not essential.
Was skeptical at first. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Good, with the caveats above.
A friend from my book club recommended it. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
