Was skeptical at first. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Belongs in any working kitchen.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Glad I finally picked this up.
Finally got around to ordering this. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Highly recommend.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Solid, if not essential.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Recommended with reservations.
This has been on my wishlist for months. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. One of my better finds this year.
