Reader rating
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Five stars from me.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Well worth it.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
Finally got around to ordering this. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. Belongs in any working kitchen.
