Williams delivers a tightly curated anthology that leverages her poetic background to create unsettling narratives. The stories avoid clichés, focusing instead on sinister premises like a website promising the earth or a skull removed from display. The gothic tone is consistent, influenced by the author’s Shropshire setting and literary journal origins. This book suits readers seeking atmospheric depth and psychological tension. It may disappoint those wanting action-heavy horror or novel-length commitments.
