Wanted something for October and it delivered. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Five stars from me.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. It assumes some familiarity with the genre's tropes. Good, with the caveats above.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Well worth it.
This has been on my wishlist for months. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Glad I finally picked this up.
