Hunters

James Lincoln’s Hunters presents a post-apocalyptic narrative set in Northern California following a viral collapse. The story begins with nearly one thousand survivors establishing a secure camp in the mountains, protected from infected hordes and scavengers. This fragile peace shatters when a patrol discovers fresh corpses where none should exist. Smoke rising toward their base confirms an attack, forcing the Captain and his team to return to find their sanctuary destroyed. With their home gone, the group relies on their training to search, rescue, and kill. They pursue the attackers through the ruined streets of San Francisco, facing massive infected hordes and hostile survivors. The narrative focuses on the Hunters' mission to reclaim what was lost, emphasizing survival in a wasteland where the living pose a threat equal to the dead. Lincoln structures the plot around this relentless pursuit, highlighting the tactical decisions and moral weight carried by those who were trained for such violence. This book suits readers who enjoy gritty, action-driven horror fiction centered on military-style teams and survival tactics. It may not appeal to those seeking character-heavy dramas or hopeful redemption arcs, as the tone remains focused on loss and retribution. The story draws on traditions of zombie apocalypse literature and post-collapse thrillers, grounding its supernatural elements in a harsh, realistic setting.
