H.P. Lovecraft, The Complete Omnibus Collection, Volume I: 1917-1926
✍️ H. P. LovecraftA collection of Lovecraft's published fiction from 1917 to 1926.
The first installment in a two-part omnibus set presents the full body of work Howard Phillips Lovecraft released under his own name during the early part of his career. This volume covers the period from 1917 through 1926, stopping before the final nine years of his life which appear in Volume Two. The compilation excludes any material written in collaboration with other authors, as well as poems and ghost-written content. It focuses strictly on stories published under his individual authorship. The selection includes well-known works like The Shunned House and The Lurking Fear alongside lesser-known pieces like In the Vault. This approach allows readers to trace the development of his narrative voice without interruption from other writers or non-fiction genres.
This volume captures Lovecraft's output during the 1917-1926 period, a time when pulp magazines dominated American speculative fiction. The stories reflect early 20th-century anxieties about science and the unknown, establishing the foundation for his later mythos.

Grabbed it for a long flight. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Definitely recommend.
Finally got around to ordering this. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Glad I finally picked this up.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Recommended with reservations.
A friend from my book club recommended it. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. It assumes some familiarity with the genre's tropes. Good, with the caveats above.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. A keeper.
