Been meaning to get this one for a while. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. One of my better finds this year.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Happy enough with the purchase.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Glad I finally picked this up.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Still worth having on the shelf.
