Mary Shelley's foundational gothic tale remains an essential exploration of ambition, isolation, and the terrifying consequences of playing creator. When a brilliant young scientist breathes life into an assembled corpse, he unleashes a suffering creature whose quiet vengeance consumes them both. This atmospheric horror shifts away from traditional hauntings toward a chilling philosophical dread, focusing on the profound psychological terror of abandonment and monstrous alienation. Presented here in a parallel text format translating the 1831 revision into German alongside the original English, the volume offers a unique reading experience. It suits gothic fiction enthusiasts, students of literature, and readers looking to examine the rich linguistic nuances of a classic monster tale.
