Ochs successfully merges science fiction with horror, creating a distinct tone that balances whimsy and dread. The narrative follows Michael Yeager’s adaptation to Eldridge & S.Q.Amos, Inc., treating cosmic threats with bureaucratic absurdity rather than pure terror. This approach suits readers who enjoy procedural elements and the intersection of mundane office life with high-stakes warfare. While it may disappoint those seeking traditional grimdark horror or straightforward romance, its unique blend of magic, super-science, and demigods offers a compelling, if unconventional, escape into a world where coffee breaks coexist with battles against spirits.
