Finally got around to ordering this. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Still worth having on the shelf.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
This has been on my wishlist for months. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. The font runs small in this edition. Solid, if not essential.
Needed a good scare and got one. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Five stars from me.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Already eyeing my next order.
Needed a good scare and got one. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. The cover feels thinner than expected.
