Worth the read

Needed a good scare and got one. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Recommended with reservations.

A modern classic

Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Belongs in any working kitchen.

Needed a good scare and got one. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Good, with the caveats above.
