Arcanium: Ringmaster

Aurelia T Evans presents a gothic narrative centered on Kitty, known as Pretty Kitty the Bearded Lady, who has served within the Arcanium circus for over fifteen years. Her role involves caring for both human and demon inhabitants after the curtains fall. The story explores her complex dynamic with the Ringmaster, a sadistic demon with whom she shares a dark secret. This hidden bond complicates her life when she invites Victor, a former lover from outside the circus, to join them. Victor’s affection for Kitty’s hair introduces tension that threatens to expose their secret and destabilize the entire community. Evans draws on traditions of supernatural fiction and gothic horror to examine themes of loyalty, secrecy, and desire within a closed, monstrous society. The narrative focuses on the fragile relationships between the circus members and the external world. It suits readers who enjoy character-driven stories involving demons and circus life. Those seeking fast-paced action or traditional romance may find the slow-burn tension less appealing. The book does not offer easy resolutions for its characters. The plot hinges on the potential collapse of the strange arrangement between Kitty and the Ringmaster. As Victor integrates into their world, the secret they keep becomes a volatile force. The story examines how past connections can disrupt present stability. It is a tale about the cost of hiding one’s true nature in a place built on performance. The ending leaves the fate of Arcanium uncertain as chaos looms.
