Welcome to Purgatory

Gerardo Bucio’s Welcome to Purgatory launches a planned series by placing its protagonist directly into the chaos of a zombie apocalypse that marks the end of civilization. The narrative follows a man who must survive the initial infection and the subsequent death surrounding him. He teams up with Amber, a strong, confident, and attractive woman, as they escape the immediate turmoil. Their journey involves numerous gory adventures before their paths diverge. Losing Amber forces the hero to confront his need for internal growth if he hopes to endure. As he adapts and learns to survive, the protagonist is eventually captured. This capture leads him to Purgatory, a town decimated by the ongoing apocalypse, where he is welcomed into this new reality. The story balances suspense with occasional humor, aiming to captivate readers while challenging them to consider their own reactions to such a crisis. Bucio structures the plot as a roller coaster of spine-chilling events, moving from personal survival to broader societal collapse. This book suits fans of horror and supernatural fiction who enjoy character-driven narratives within apocalyptic settings. It appeals to those interested in how individuals adapt to extreme trauma and loss. Readers seeking purely action-focused tales without emotional depth may find the focus on internal growth less engaging. The work draws on the tradition of zombie apocalypse fiction, examining the breakdown of civilization and the psychological toll on survivors. It remains grounded in the specific experiences of its characters rather than broad philosophical musings.
