Unnatural Creatures: A Novel of the Frankenstein Women

This novel succeeds in breathing new life into a familiar tale by shifting the focal point to the three pivotal women in Victor’s orbit. The narrative effectively captures the oppressive weight of Gothic atmosphere, grounding the cosmic horror in domestic reality. It is particularly well-suited for readers who appreciate character-driven horror and psychological depth over sheer gore. The approach allows for a nuanced exploration of guilt, grief, and power dynamics that are often overlooked in traditional adaptations. While it may not offer new plot twists to those deeply versed in Shelley’s work, it provides a compelling emotional resonance. It stands as a strong entry for fans of dark fantasy and gothic reimaginings who crave a more inclusive perspective on the classic monster story.
