Very good

Needed a good scare and got one. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. The cover feels thinner than expected. Solid, if not essential.

Worth every penny

Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there.

Dread done right

Grabbed it for a long flight. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Well worth it.
