Been meaning to get this one for a while. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. Five stars from me.
A friend from my book club recommended it. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Happy enough with the purchase.
Was skeptical at first. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. It assumes some familiarity with the genre's tropes. Solid, if not essential.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Good, with the caveats above.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. Happy enough with the purchase.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Shipping was quick too.
