Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. One of my better finds this year.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. Five stars from me.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Belongs in any working kitchen.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Shipping was quick too.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Glad I finally picked this up.

This collection is ideal for literary scholars and devotees of classic Gothic fiction seeking a nuanced view of Poe’s satire alongside his terror. However, readers craving only visceral, modern horror shocks will likely find the period prose too dense and slow-paced for their tastes.
