📝 Description: The Hunt Is On

Ex-police officer Dean Ferris faces a lethal ultimatum from mob boss Paul Demato. Having previously received help in court, Dean owes Demato a debt he must repay with his life or labor. The assignment involves protecting Leo Demato, the boss’s son, who has angered both the Demato and Cascarini families. Don Mario Cascarini seeks Leo’s death, but chaos ensues when an assassin known as Mr Death confuses Leo with his cousin Tobias. This confusion triggers a violent investigation that threatens to dismantle the mob. Mr Death pursues Dean to stop him from thwarting the original mission, leading to a bloody hunt where innocent citizens perish in the collateral damage. The narrative follows the tense cat-and-mouse game between the former officer and the relentless killer. Lex Sinclair, author of nine novels including The Frozen Man and Neighbourhood Watch, delivers a dark story that critics like Damnetha Jules note for its convincing execution. The book suits readers who enjoy gritty crime thrillers with supernatural undertones and complex mob dynamics. It may not appeal to those seeking lighthearted escapism or clear moral victories. The plot relies on mistaken identity and familial loyalty within the criminal underworld.
