Wanted something for October and it delivered. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. Solid, if not essential.
Finally got around to ordering this. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. Good introduction if you have not read this author before.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Recommended with reservations.
