📝 Description: The Broken Ones
Seemingly overnight, Indianapolis becomes the epicenter of a bizarre "outbreak" as ordinary people develop extraordinary powers, but are these abilities a blessing or a curse? - Chris Taylor, a disgraced police officer, finds himself plagued by horrific visions of murders yet to come. - Miss Fire, a flame wielding villain, plots to rob a jewelry store with the help of a dirt construct called Golem. - Mac, an overweight teenager gifted with the power of flight, sets out with his friend Allison to fight crime. As more people discover their "gifts," the police are pushed to their limits just to keep up. What caused this outbreak? Can these new "heroes" learn where to draw the line? Boundaries are crossed and minds are tested as the world discovers the bloodshed that inevitably will follow... The Broken Ones.

The Broken Ones delivers a high-octane exploration of power corruption, effectively blending police procedural elements with supernatural thriller pacing. Jobe succeeds in creating immediate tension by juxtaposing mundane Indianapolis life against bizarre, violent outbreaks. The character dynamics, particularly the contrast between the haunted detective and the naive teen hero, provide emotional anchors in a chaotic world. This book suits readers who prefer kinetic action and clear moral stakes over slow-burn psychological horror. It offers a satisfying, if straightforward, look at the dangers of unchecked ability.
