First order from this shop. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Good, with the caveats above.
Was skeptical at first. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Highly recommend.
Finally got around to ordering this. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Happy enough with the purchase.
Arrived quickly and well packaged. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there.
Was skeptical at first. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. Already eyeing my next order.
Needed a good scare and got one. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Five stars from me.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Well worth it.
