Iain Rob Wright delivers a potent blend of cosmic dread and personal tragedy in this gripping tale. The concept of 'The Tar' as an inescapable force creates a suffocating atmosphere that perfectly complements Finn's desperate mission. While the apocalypse setting is familiar, the focus on a brother's relentless hunt for justice injects fresh energy into the genre. Wright’s prose effectively balances the scale of global destruction with the intimate pain of individual loss. The book suits readers who prefer horror with a strong narrative drive and emotional stakes over pure atmosphere. It is a tense, unputdownable read that leverages fear to explore the enduring nature of vengeance.
