⭐ Reader reviews
Reader rating
Howson crafts a compelling examination of fear by trapping four friends in a blizzard while they recount local legends. The strength lies in the steady build of suspense and the effective use of isolation to erode trust among the group. While the pacing is deliberate, it successfully creates a claustrophobic atmosphere where the line between fiction and reality blurs. This approach suits readers who prefer psychological tension and character development over fast-paced action or historical non-fiction. The work avoids complex world-building, focusing instead on immediate interpersonal dynamics and environmental danger to drive the narrative forward toward an uncertain climax.
