This facsimile reprint serves as a specific example of how Poe’s contributions to horror were distributed, prioritizing cultural preservation over aesthetic perfection. While it offers an authentic glimpse into the past for scholars and collectors, it explicitly does not suit readers seeking pristine, corrected texts free of original markings. Those who find artifacts distracting may struggle with this unaltered approach. It captures the essence of the grotesque tradition through its faithful reproduction of imperfections, making it a niche but vital resource for serious study.

Worth every penny

Wanted something for October and it delivered. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. A keeper.

Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. One of my better finds this year.
