Horror desk
This annual succeeds as a visual tribute to Stephen King’s touring life, leveraging Dave Hinchberger’s editorial oversight and Glenn Chadbourne’s artwork to create a compelling non-fiction experience. The weekly calendar format encourages long-term engagement with the author's history. However, it is explicitly not suitable for readers seeking new horror fiction or short stories. Those expecting narrative plots or cosmic dread will find this volume lacking in traditional literary substance. It is best viewed as a specialized artifact for dedicated fans who value biographical trivia and artistic interpretation over plot-driven content.

Arrived quickly and well packaged. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Still worth having on the shelf.

Slow start

Needed a good scare and got one. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with.

Genuinely scary

Been meaning to get this one for a while. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks.

Exactly as described

A friend from my book club recommended it. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there.
